I have more than enough projects on the back burner that I can work on at any given time, so when I find myself not writing it's because of the many and varied distractions that come from working at home, and boy are there ever distractions! This, I'll admit, was something I did not expect when I started working from my basement. When I was laboring out in the 9 to 5 world I would wistfully dream about writing and painting all day long without a care, then I actually had to do it. Being the talent, the businessman, the motivator, the everything all-in -one has been a bit more than I bargained for, but I'm starting to get into a rhythm. What I'll start this week is actually write down a schedule of what I'm working on and then try and stick to that...and if that doesn't work, I'll quit.
Not really...I'll just try something else until I find something that sticks.
So...what works for y'all out there in the vastness of cyberspace?
Until I hear from you...anybody? Mcfly?
I remain one of those creative types.

T. I thought I should let y'all know what you're getting into when/if you decide top visit my blog (that's if anyone ever does...sheesh.) Anyhow I'll tell you a little about myself and what you can expect and then with the next posting I'll "let fly."

So - I write fantasy, no not that kind. I don't write for Penthouse or anything. I write Heroic Fantasy very similar to, but not derivative (I hope) of J.R.R. Tolkien. I have also started a screenplay (Urban Fantasy), a novelization based on that, a Political/Sociological Thriller, and also plan a Contemporary Political Commentary on our current state of society. I also paint (not houses) and focus on watercolor mixed media with the subject matter traversing the non-representational to the fantastic (yep fantasy again.)

I am Christian, conservative, tolerant, irascible, infantile (at times), loyal, faithful, honest (no, I am not a golden retriever), open-minded for the most part although my beliefs are strongly held. Most of my life I was a card carrying liberal. The only one, in fact, in the history of my family. You can imagine my family's surprise when I did a complete 180 a year ago and embraced everything Limbaugh. Why you may ask. Well...if I told you it was the power of the Holy Spirit you might laugh, you might scoff, you may not believe, but I'm here to tell you (and everyone in my family-seriously Mom, Dad, Brother, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, even close friends-like everyone is totally floored) that it is the absolute truth. I am in awe and wonder that it happened to me, and though I would love to share my testimony and my church with anyone who is willing to listen, I try (and usually succeed) to be non-judgemental, so if you're a satanist I won't judge, but you're going to hell.

I hope that gives you an accurate picture of me. It is, at best, a glimpse of a portion of my interior life. The majority of my life is taken up by my love of God and my devotion to my wife and son. I am reminded of a quote attributed to Gayle Sayers, in fact I believe it's the title of his auto-biography, and it goes like this...God is first. My family is second and I am third. I hope that I can live up to that.

Anyway...that's who I am, and what you'll be hearing here will reflect my work, hopes, dreams, realities, rants, raves, and whatever else interest's me. If what dribbles out of my pea-sized brain entertains or informs all the better and if it pisses you off or you think I'm out of line feel free to let me know, cuz as of the next post I'm going to "let fly." May God have mercy on your soul.
I remain...
One of those creative types.

T. Rather than put them off, or what's more, actually insult their moribund stereotyping, I nod and smile knowingly. It did, however, get me thinking about what "those creative types," usually do, look like, or act like that we deserve a "type" at all. I'm pretty sure that I go against the typing that most people would ascribe to. In fact I'm almost positive that I can defy anybody's (save, of course, for those who actually know me) definition of "one of those creative types." So go ahead and let me know what you think a "creative type" is and we'll see how close it matches my profile.
Until Next Time
I remain
One of those creative types

T.
